A message from our President

A message from our President Chauncey Blackford

Hello, fellow members and new members. It was an eventful year in 2006. We built a pond at the Indiana Deaf School and I would like to take this opportunity to say “THANKS” to everyone involved members and sponsors. It is beautiful, and we are hoping to do the dedication in April. We also took a fun trip to Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL on Saturday, October 14th. It was a beautiful day and we wondered around the gardens at our own pace and enjoyed all the beautiful water features, Koi, buildings, and landscaping. Also the bus driver, Pam, was great and we had loads of fun. Several members attended the 2006 AKCA Seminar in Buffalo, NY. Congratulations go to Marilyn Strange for being awarded the Koi Person of the Year. Congratulations also go to Dick and Brenda Thomas for the Best Koi of the Year in our photo contest. There were several informative seminars and lots of good food and fellowship. The Ice sculptures on the main table were especially beautiful and I got some great pictures. Some of us spent time site seeing at Niagara Falls and at the botanical gardens. We even took a trip on a Jet boat to the whirlpool and that was fun! Our pond tour was a great success in 2006 and “Thanks Again” goes to all of the officers and members involved for there dedication to our club projects. Our 2007 tour proves to be even better with several club members already hard at work. We have secured the ELKS club in Greenfield, IN and we have an air conditioned building this year! Thanks to Shelton and Taber Baise for our speakers last year and also in 2007. I look forward to all of the education they will give to our club members. Of course our BBQ in September was a little wet but all in all everyone had a great time and thanks to our gracious hosts, Mike and Paulette Lewis. Elections were held in October and some of us dressed in our Halloween costumes. Thanks go to the past officers and welcome to the new officers. I am looking forward to the coming year and hope that everyone is getting ready for spring. We have a community project in progress in Greenwood, a trip is being planned again this year, the Flower and Patio Show, and the 2007 Pond tour Extravaganza. Come join the fun, learn, and share with fellow Koi hobbyist. Hope to see you at our meetings!!
