This past year we had many events and I will mention a few. In 2008 Austin Nichols took over the Damar pond build and we will be building their pond in or around Aug 2009. We will need everyone's help to complete this project. Please contact Austin if you can help. We had our first Club Koi show at Backyard Blessings and we learned alot and also had a really great time. Thanks to Mark for the use of his building and for the hamburgers and hot dogs! Ken and Linda Lau, and Nate and Debbie Andrews went to Japan and Hawaii to attend the annual Koi Show and to visit the mud ponds in Niigata. They all brought back Koi from Japan. I can't wait to see them! Congratulations go to Joe and Faith Cook for being awarded the Koi Persons of the Year. The annual AKCA seminar is in San Diego in February 2009 this year. Our pond tour was a success in 2008 even with the rain, and “Thanks Again” goes to all of the officers and members involved for there dedication to our club projects. We were honored to have with us again, Taro Kodama from Kodama Koi as a vendor and members and guests were able to purchase quality Koi and fish food from Niigata. Thanks Taro! Our 2009 Pond Tour/Vendor/ and Koi Show proves to be even bigger and better with several club members already hard at work. We have been meeting every 3 weeks to set up the rules for our 1st Koi show. It is really exciting! We will have our Koi Show/Vendor exhibit at the Monrovia Festival building in Monrovia on June 13th and 14th. We will also have a tour in Monrovia area. The festival building is very nice and has air conditioning, 2 large rooms, kitchen and an outdoor shelter house. We would like to extend a big "welcome" to Mamoru Kodama, and Taro Kodama who will be at our Koi show this year. The Flower and Patio show was well received and we signed up several new names for our mailing list last year. Thanks to all of the members that volunteer to work at our booth. We have 3 members who became KHA advisors this past year, Joe Cook, Faith Cook, and Ken Lau. I would like to extend a big "congratulations" from myself and all of the members. We are all very proud of you! The BBQ in September at the home of Duane and Linda Briar was great with everyone enjoying the BBQ pork and ribs, and the nature walk and hayride. Thanks as always for your wonderful hospitality! The elections were held in October at the home of Mike and Paulette Lewis, thanks also for your great hospitality! The new officers are as follows: Marilyn Strange, President, Faith Cook, V-President, Kay Oberlin, Secretary, Sharon Blackford, Treasurer, and Linda Kirkwood, Member at Large. Congratulations to all of you! Thanks also, to all of the past officers for all their dedication and hard work. I am looking forward to the coming year and hope that everyone will come and join in the fun, education, and fellowship with other Koi enthusists. Remember, we have our community project in progress in Greenwood at the Damar school, the Flower and Patio Show, and the 2009 Pond Tour /Show /Vendor Exhibit/ Extravaganza planned this year. I look forward to serving you as your President this year and to hearing your suggestions to keep our club fun, educational, and growing. I hope to see all of you in the coming year! Marilyn Strange, President Indiana Koi and Water Garden Club
